Quintana’s Story
From the tranquil city of Santa Rosa to the bustling Pacific Vision Surgery Center (PVSC) in San Francisco, 79-year-old Quintana embarked on a journey that dramatically transformed her life. Undergoing cataract surgery on both eyes at PVSC, Quintana regained not only her vision but also a renewed sense of hope.
Quintana’s vision had been clouded by cataracts, a common condition in seniors, leading to a significant decline in her quality of life. The cataracts obstructed her lens, making everyday tasks increasingly difficult and diminishing her independence.
Dr. Roger Husted, a seasoned ophthalmologist at PVSC, performed the cataract removal surgeries. Having successfully operated on the left eye a month before, the focus was now on restoring sight in her right eye.
I had surgery on both eyes, last month, the left one, and now the right one, and it was a very good surgery,” Quintana expressed. She continued with heartfelt gratitude, “and I hope that you always continue to operate on people who need your help.
Quintana’s daughter, Raquel, also shared her appreciation: “We are here because the Santa Rosa community clinic has referred us to you because we are low-income and we are looking for this type of help. We are grateful. We know people who have come here before. Everything has been well because of your experience and help. Thank you for everything!”
Following the surgery, Quintana experienced a dramatic improvement in her vision. This change not only allowed her to see the world more clearly but also restored her ability to live more independently, enhancing her daily interactions and activities.
PVSC continues to demonstrate its dedication to the community by providing essential services to those most in need. Their Patient Assistance Fund plays a crucial role in making surgeries accessible to uninsured and low-income patients, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent anyone from receiving necessary care.
